Background

In late 2021, I began streaming my development on Twitch to generate buzz about the Wildlander project, and to meet other members of the community. I designed this stream overlay to encourage viewer donations, and to feature the project's social links and community resources.

Challenges and Goals

• Since I uploaded the archives of each stream to multiple video platforms, I needed an overlay that archived stream chat. Otherwise, there would be no conversational context for viewers watching after the fact.

• I often used these streams as a source of gameplay footage for trailers and marketing materials, so I didn't want any overlay elements to obstruct the gameplay.

• I wanted to feature both Twitch and Patreon donators on the overlay, but there was no integration between the two platforms—which meant designing and compositing displays for each platform respectively.
